Through my own health journey, I longed for answers, and when I couldn’t find them from traditional approaches, I embarked on my own healing journey. I found the world of holistic healing and became my own alchemist. This is why I created Alchemy by Alexis, to help you do the same. I work at the intersect of mind, body, and soul and infuse modern day science with ancient wisdom.
Hello - I’m Alexis
I am a Somatic Practitioner & Holistic Mental Health Coach who specializes in helping self-aware young adults heal their mental health through harnessing the power of the nervous system utilizing Somatic Experiencing (SE) and other holistic practices. I help clients break patterns and get unstuck, foster a deeper connection with their body through Somatic Experiencing, and empower them to take meaningful steps toward a soul-aligned life.
At the heart of my mission is a profound passion for transcending the traditional talk-therapy approach. Although I have background as a trained Psychotherapist, I now practice as a Holistic Mental Health Coach. My goal is to provide an alternative approach to healing that provides genuine, long-lasting transformation. My approach differs from this traditional approach, because instead of a ‘top-down’ strategy, I take a ‘bottom-up’ strategy emphasizing the body as a pathway to finding peace in the mind. In sessions I take a solution-focused approach, while addressing the nervous system and subtleties of the subconscious mind. Our bodies want more than anything to heal and come back to homeostasis, and in my work I guide people to get back to that!
How is working with a somatic approach different than traditional talk-therapy approaches?
Traditional talk-therapy often consists of weekly hour-long sessions, emphasizing a cognitive ‘top-down’ strategy that offers momentary relief, but may be not provide the lasting change you desire on a deeper level. The true origins of our mental health experience often lies in the subtleties of the nervous system and the deep recesses of our subconscious minds.
Many traditional talk therapy modalities don’t reach these depths. I realized for many people, and for many these approaches don’t fully resonate and can intensify feelings of stuckness. You may feel like you’re so self aware, and yet you still feel stuck. If this is you, you may need a ‘bottom-up’ approach, helping you get out of the head & into the body.
